Awoke to a lovely sunrise over the Falls!
And very soon we were on the road again to our next destination, the Finger lakes region of New York. Basically, this is upstate NY at its finest…at least in my opinion! Just give me water, especially a lake, and a bit of sun, and I am one happy girl! Okay, and a little coffee…
We did make a detour to Rochester, as Marianne wanted to tour the Kodak Museum. It was fascinating to learn a bit about this important ambitious and philanthropic man, George Eastman, and to be able to tour his estate right in town, bordered by blocks and blocks of equally impressive homes! Rochester sure rocked one heck of a heyday, and it still shows beautifully!
This is a picture of a wall of chemicals used in developing that he had collected..hundreds of tiny colored bottles…an impressive mosaic!
I was then eager to get out to the lake, as it was a beautiful day! What a lovely drive through this part of the country, through rolling hills of agriculture, vineyards, and the occasional very old cemetery…always intriguing!
We stopped and shared a salad for lunch on the shores of one of the lakes…
And then arrived at our lovely B&B, The Steamboat Castle on Lake Keuka! It is so beautiful inside and out!
We soon were in the kayaks, enjoying the serenity of this amazing place!
This is the view from our room on the very top floor, where we have a full veranda!
We had lovely conversations and wine with our hosts, Ginny and Jamie, as well shared wine and conversation with lovely folks from New Jersey and Cincinnati! Drove around the lake for a late dinner, and now…sleep…hopefully!
We will head to Vermont tomorrow, cannot wait to see the home of Cooks Illustrated and King Arthur Flour!!!
Thanks as always for coming along for the ride!
