So sad leaving Fullerton this morning…we will surely miss our dear friends who are like family to us, but we know we will be seeing them all again soon❤😊! And thanks again so very much to Kevin and Gary for hosting us at your lovely home, for your generosity and kindness as always!!! Love you both!!!
It was already heating up substantially by the time we got out of the LA proper area, a very fast 92 by 11am! We were able to get on to highway 101, which hugs the coast after a bit, and it was beautiful! We stopped in Pismo Beach just to stretch and get a quick walk, took a few breaths of salt air, and then on the road again.
Just before San Simeon we also took in the small beach town of Cambria, which is so quaint, reminds us both a bit of Cannon Beach on the Oregon Coast, it is not beachfront, but very cool with a super friendly vibe! In fact we had dinner there tonight at a place called Indigo Moon, which was a recommendation by a woman we met in one of the shops, and it was amazing! Again, great food, but even greater people we get to meet along the way!
We arrived in San Simeon mid afternoon, and got to tour the impressive Hearst Castle, which is in the most beautiful setting imaginable. It is perched 12oo feet high up in the rolling hills overlooking the most gorgeous stretch of pacific ocean one can conjure. The tour was worth the money and the effort, and we both left feeling like we again got to see a piece of history, hear a story of person of fortune who left their legacy to live on as a museum for the rest of us too to enjoy, if only for a few moments…
We did also get to enjoy an amazing sunset on the beach, and 0verall had such a wonderful day, as our time continues to wind down, and we head north on our journey home!
We did make a decision to nix Lake Tahoe on Saturday night, we will travel directly to Ashland instead, which will get us home a day earlier on Sunday. We hopefully will get to catch some of the Seahawks game with Tay and Robert.
As always, our travel is so much more enjoyed with you all along!!! Thanks so much for taking time to hang with us!
